Install Sledge

Switch on Sledge Core in your theme editor, check it's working, and know how to remove it cleanly if you ever want to.

Four clicks in your theme editor and Sledge is live on your store. No code, no theme files touched, and the same switch turns it back off.

Every plan comes with a 14-day free trial, and development stores are free. Install Sledge from the Shopify App Store

Install the app

Install Sledge from the Shopify App Store. This adds the app to your store and makes the theme app extension available to your themes.

Open the theme editor

In Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes, then click Customize on the theme you want Sledge on.

Enable Sledge Core

In the left sidebar, open App embeds and switch on Sledge Core.

This is the only required step. It loads the Sledge runtime on every page of your storefront.

Save

Click Save. Sledge is now live on that theme.

App embeds are per-theme. If you publish a different theme, or duplicate your theme to work on it, enable Sledge Core on that theme too.

What happens after you enable it

Sledge loads, detects the current surface, reads your settings, and renders only the widgets that are both configured and enabled for that surface.

Some widgets appear immediately once configured in the dashboard, because they inject into known positions in your theme. Others — a search bar in your header, a review widget in a specific spot on the product page — need you to place a block where you want them. See Storefront.

Verifying the install

Open your storefront and check any of the following:

  • A Sledge widget you have configured appears on the page.
  • In your browser's element inspector, elements with names beginning sledge- are present in the page.
  • Search or filtering behaves differently from your theme's built-in version.

If nothing appears, work through Troubleshooting.

Removing Sledge

Switch Sledge Core off in App embeds and save. Every Sledge widget stops rendering immediately, and your theme's own search, filtering and layout take over again. Uninstalling the app from Shopify admin does the same thing.

Sledge never writes to your theme files, so nothing is left behind. Your configuration is kept, so re-enabling restores everything as it was.
