Storefront

Place Sledge widgets on your storefront from the Shopify theme editor using app embeds and app blocks — no theme code, and everything is removable from the same screen.

This section covers putting Sledge widgets on the page. All of it happens in the Shopify theme editor. None of it requires editing theme code.

There are two kinds of thing you add:

What it isWhere you add itApplies to
App embedA site-wide feature with no fixed positionApp embeds in the sidebarEvery page
App blockA widget placed in a specific spotAdd block on a sectionThat section

App embeds are for things that float above the page or attach themselves — the cart drawer, the search overlay, the wishlist overlay. You switch them on once.

App blocks are for things that occupy a position in your layout — a search bar in the header, a review widget under the product description, a filter panel beside a collection grid. You place them where you want them.

The order to do things

Enable Sledge Core

Nothing else works until this is on. See Install.

Configure the feature in Sledge

A block renders nothing if the feature behind it is not configured and enabled for that surface. Configuration lives in the Sledge dashboard — see Guide.

Add the embed or block

Switch on the app embed, or place the block on the section where it belongs.

If a widget does not appear, it is almost always step 2 — the feature is not enabled for the surface you are looking at. Check that before moving blocks around.

Full inventory

Every embed and block, with all of its theme editor settings, is listed in Reference → Blocks.
